As one of the only properties in Saint Lucia to offer a dedicated vegan menu, Calabash Cove Resort and Spa offers diverse vegetarian and vegan dishes with an international flare. Along with being completely plastic-free, some other notable green features the intimate resort offers include: all hot water is generated by solar energy and there are no oil or gas heaters on property, energy saving LEDs in all light fixtures, operate own on-site water treatment plant and recycle the water for irrigation, timers for all pool pumps, collect rainwater, no disposable food containers or disposable cups and glasses, lunch boxes made from recycled material, straws made from degradable paper, no disposable plastics like cutlery or plates, all produce sourced from local farmers whenever possible, collect used kitchen oil and send to a commercial laundry and Saint Lucia Distillers on island – it is used as fuel to heat laundry water or fire a distillation still, extremely seldom fog grounds for mosquitos to allow birdlife to flourish, grass cuttings are mulched back into the ground and composted, kitchen waste is collected and given to a pig farmer and more. www.calabashcove.com

Jazz 2025 - Saint Lucia The Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival is set to make a resounding return in May 2025, with the internationally acclaimed artist John Legend headlining the event. This announcement has generated significant excitement, as it not only brings a globally recognized musician to the island but also marks a heartfelt reunion—Legend first graced the festival's stage in 2009, and his return is eagerly anticipated. A Brief History of the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival Established in 1992, the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival was conceived as a strategic initiative to extend the tourist season beyond the traditional peak months. The festival's inaugural edition featured performances at four locations across the island, aiming to attract visitors during May, a period that had previously been relatively quiet in terms of tourism. Over the years, the festival has experienced remarkable growth, evolving into one of the Caribbean's premier musical events. By 2011, it celebrated its 20th anniversary—a testament to its enduring appeal and success. In 2013, the festival underwent a significant transformation, rebranding itself as the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival. This evolution expanded its scope beyond music to include a diverse array of artistic expressions such as fashion shows, dance performances, theater productions, and visual arts exhibitions. This holistic approach not only enriched the festival's offerings but also provided a platform for local and international artists to showcase their talents. A Legacy of Iconic Performances Throughout its history, the festival has been graced by an impressive roster of musical legends spanning various genres. Artists such as Santana, Sting, UB40, Diana Ross, Air Supply, Kenny G, Amy Winehouse, Smokey Robinson, The O'Jays, and Gloria Gaynor have all delivered memorable performances on Saint Lucian stages. Another significant cultural event is Jounen Kwéyòl, or Creole Day, celebrated on the closest Sunday to October 28th each year. This festival honors Saint Lucia's African-French heritage through traditional music, dance, cuisine, and the Kwéyòl language. Why Couples Choose to Have All-Inclusive Destination Weddings What makes all-inclusive destination weddings so popular? A survey of 1,460 members of the Knot Wedding Network showed some interesting trends when they provided answers to some key questions about their wedding. The results from this 2014 survey showed an interesting trend. For example, almost one in four couples (24%) of those surveyed chose to have a destination wedding rather than a traditional ceremony in their home town. Of these, 45% of the weddings were in an international destination and 60% were a significant distance from where the couple lived at the time of their wedding. Fast forward to 2024/5 and we see that destination weddings have become increasingly popular among U.S. couples in recent years. As of 2024, approximately 25% of all U.S. weddings were destination weddings, with about half of these taking place internationally. The global destination wedding market has seen significant growth, expanding from $21.31 billion in 2022 to $28.31 billion in 2023, and is projected to reach $78.89 billion by 2027. Popular international destinations for U.S. couples include Mexico, the Caribbean, and various European countries. Mexico remains a top choice due to its proximity and diverse venue options. The average cost of a destination wedding in 2023 was $41,000, compared to $35,000 for traditional weddings. Factors contributing to the higher cost include travel expenses, accommodations, and the tendency to hire wedding planners for remote coordination. The driving factor for couples being prepared to go the extra mile, is simply the attraction of a memorable experience.
